Presentation of the book The Renaissance of Huehuetán, Guerrero written by Edwin Rentería. Today, various voices reaffirm and celebrate the complex cultural identity of Latin America and its African heritage. With Edwin Rentería, the Barco de Papel Cultural Center invited the public to listen to one of these voices.
Huehuetán is an Afro-descendant municipality, officially recognized as such on July 31, 2021. After two centuries, this was the first time that this population was included in such recognition. Edwin Rentería, the author, is a history enthusiast and a representative of this community. In this book, he reaffirms his stance on its history and challenges: “This is a tribute, a guide, and also a way to bear witness to our history, to the struggle and greatness of Huehuetán.”
